TOTAL LOSS APPRAISAL SERVICES

Don't Guess Whether Your Insurance Company's Value Is Right.

When your vehicle is declared a total loss, the insurance company's valuation can directly affect the amount of your settlement.

If you believe the value doesn't accurately reflect your vehicle or the current market,

provides professional, independent total loss appraisal services to determine and support its fair market value.

26+ years of total loss and vehicle valuation experience.

When Should I Consider an Independent Appraisal?

You may benefit from an independent review if:

  • The insurance settlement seems significantly lower than comparable vehicles you're finding.

  • The valuation contains incorrect mileage, trim, options, or equipment.

  • The comparable vehicles don't reasonably represent your vehicle.

  • Large condition deductions have been applied.

  • Your vehicle is unusual, modified, luxury, performance, electric, collector, commercial, or otherwise difficult to value.

  • You have invoked—or are considering invoking—the appraisal clause in your policy.

   • You simply want an independent professional opinion before accepting the settlement.

Not sure whether your valuation is worth disputing? Send it to us first.

MORE THAN  JUST A NUMBER. A FULLY SUPPORTED OPINION OF VALUE

Every total loss assignment is personally researched and analyzed by Thomas Cardwell.

We don't begin with a predetermined number, and we don't rely solely on automated valuation output.

We evaluate the individual vehicle and the market evidence supporting its value, including vehicle configuration, mileage, equipment, condition, comparable vehicles, geographic market considerations, and other relevant factors.

When retained for an appraisal-clause assignment, Cardwell Claim Authority can also communicate directly with the opposing appraiser, evaluate the evidence presented by both sides, negotiate professionally, and work toward an agreed value or proceed through the policy's umpire process when necessary.

We don't create value. We determine value based on the evidence.

HOW A TOTAL LOSS APPRAISAL WORKS

1 — Send Us Your Valuation

Provide the insurance company's valuation report along with basic information about your vehicle.

2 — We Review the Claim

Before asking you to hire us, we can review the circumstances and determine whether professional appraisal may make sense.

3 — Independent Market Valuation

If retained, Cardwell performs an individualized market analysis and prepares a fully supported opinion of value.

4 — Appraisal & Negotiation

When the policy appraisal clause has been invoked, we communicate directly with the insurer's selected appraiser and work toward an agreed value.

5 — Resolution

If the appraisers agree, the value is documented through the appraisal process. If they cannot agree, the matter may proceed to an umpire as provided by the policy.
